Style 7781 is an 8.95 oz 8 harness satin weave fiberglass fabric. This is an E-glass that's used extensively in the aerospace industry. The count is 57x54 ends/in.  A couple notes on the satin weaves.  There's several styles of fiberglass fabrics in this same weight and weave range.  The first in this category was style 181, then 1581 and the latest of this range is the 7781. And there was also style 7581. There's not a lot of difference in the various numbers just mentioned.  The biggest one is how much warping the yarn used has.  1581 was the standard in the industry.  7781 has a flatter yarn and it would be assumed better properties.  These are all E-glass.  The S-2 glass versions are 6581 for 1581 and 6781 for 7781.  JPS generally puts the number 1 in front of their S-2 glass styles like 16781 which would be the S-2 glass version of 7781 for them.  Most of these weaves are originally intended for the aerospace market in making radomes and other aircraft parts.

BGF had developed a black finish on 7781 for a customer somewhere on the west coast.  For some reason the customer was not able to follow through with their end of the bargain and BGF sold the entire lot to me.  As far as I know any of this 7781 finished in this 652 black epoxy compatible finish that you'll run across out there originally was made by BGF Industries and sold by me.

This is some pretty nice material.  I used some in making a round cone shaped plug thingy that I use to hold the spare tire that's mounted above the right side tool box on my F350.  I'll try to add a photo later. It wets out and stays put as good as any 7781 I used before.  The 1581 with the Volan finish we have from time to time is a little softer.  One question someone asked is does the black bleed out of the cloth while your wetting it out?  The answer is pretty much no.  Meaning I haven't done any really large layups with it but what I did didn't bleed any.  One thing I thought might be useful is if the builder used this in something like speaker boxes and after getting the desired shape do a final layup with this material using a clear table top type epoxy resin.

We got this in 200 - 500 yard rolls and have rerolled them to 20, 30, 50 and 125 yard rolls. The 38" is $3 per yard and the 50" is $4.00 per yard plus shipping. The rolls are packed in plastic coated paper, packing foam and corrugated wrap for the smaller rolls with the larger rolls in standard heavy test boxes.
