10.46 oz Style 7576 Fiberglass Cloth
Satin Weaves
Style 7576 is a unidirectional type 8 harness satin weave fiberglass cloth. Style 7576 weighs 10.4 oz/sq yd and has a thread count of 120 x 24 ends/inch. 7576 uses the yarn ECG 75 1/0 in the warp and ECG 150 1/0 in the fill. That is, 7576 uses 120 each of twice the fill yarn size yarn in the warp and just 24 in the fill. We don't use breaking strengths normally but for argument sake the one given by the weaver is 430 x 29 lbs/inch warp and fill. If one just does a quick theoretical calculation that would suggest the warp of the cloth is right at ten times the strength of the fill. This being based on the G75 1/0 as 7500 yards per pound x 120 vs G150 as 15000 yards per pound, using the inverses of the yarn weights and multiplying by the thread count as 1/7500 0.000133 x 120 = 0.01599 for the warp and 1/15,000 x 24 = (0.0000666 x 24 = 0.001599) to produce an exact warp/fill ratio of 10 to 1.
Style 7576, though an 8 harness satin weave as are 1581, 7781, 3783, is a beautiful fiberglass fabric that has a completely different look on one side as compared to the reverse side of the fabric. The reason for this is the way the fill yarn crosses over 7 warp yarn in lesser number than does the warp yarn crossing the fill. The side that looks more balanced is the side the fill yarn are crossing the 7 warp yarn facing you. On the opposite side you see the 7 warp yarn with the fill on the other side.
Our stock of this is somewhat erratic but we will try to keep this page up to date. Style is the S Glass version of 7676.
